Board overview

MacBook Air 13" M1 (2020–2022). First Apple Silicon laptop, replacing Intel architecture with the M1 SoC. The A2337 uses a unified memory architecture with no discrete DRAM — all memory is on the M1 die. The schematic reference is 820-02134.

Power rails reference

Rails listed in measurement priority order — start at the top. Each rail must be present before the next can be generated.

Rail name Voltage Notes & fault hints
PPBUS_G3H 8.6 V typ Always-on bus rail from battery or adapter via T6022. First rail to measure.
PP3V3_S5 3.3 V Standby 3.3 V generated from PPBUS_G3H. Present when machine is off.
PP1V8_S5 1.8 V Standby 1.8 V rail. Enable signal from T6022 sequencing.
PP5V_S5 5.0 V Standby 5 V for USB-C always-on power.
PP0V9_SOC 0.9 V M1 SoC core voltage. Requires full S0 wake. Generated by PMIC.
PP1V2_SOC 1.2 V M1 I/O and interconnect rail.
PP1V1_LPDDR4 1.1 V LPDDR4X memory VDD. Missing = memory bus fault.
PP3V3_S0 3.3 V Active 3.3 V. Gated behind S0 enable from T6022.

Common failure zones

Most likely failures first. Each entry gives a symptom and the immediate diagnostic action.

USB-C not charging (one side)
CD3215 controller on that port. Check VBUS enable, CC logic. Measure VCONN.
No power at all
Measure PPBUS_G3H first. If missing: T6022 BMIC or battery not present. Check SMC_BC_ACOK equivalent signal.
Boots but no display
Backlight controller (TPS65132 region) or display connector. Check PP1V8_S0 to panel.
Intermittent power loss
PPBUS_G3H instability — bad solder joint on T6022 or coil. Measure under load.
Liquid damage — no power
T6022 area most vulnerable. Also check corrosion under CD3215 and around SMC equivalent pads.
