Board overview

MacBook Air 13" M2 (2022), board number 820-02549. Apple M2 SoC (2nd generation 5nm TSMC). Second-generation T6002 BMIC (Battery Management IC), replacing the T6022 of the M1 A2337. Uses LPDDR5 memory (vs LPDDR4X on A2337) offering higher bandwidth. 2 × CD3215 USB-C controllers. MagSafe 3 connector in addition to USB-C charging.

PP3V3_S5 3.3 V Standby 3.3 V. T6002 generated. Present when machine is off. Absent = T6002 not functional.
PP1V8_S5 1.8 V Standby 1.8 V. Standby logic power for USB-C and power sequencing.
PP5V_S5 5.0 V Standby 5 V. Always-on USB-C VCONN and standby peripheral power.
PP0V9_SOC 0.9 V M2 SoC core voltage. Requires full S0 wake. Generated by PMIC inside M2 package.
PP1V2_LPDDR5 1.2 V LPDDR5 memory bus voltage (higher than LPDDR4X 1.1 V on A2337). Missing = memory fault or PMU sequencing failure.
PP3V3_S0 3.3 V Active 3.3 V. Gated by T6002 S0 enable. PCIe, NVMe, peripheral logic.
PP1V8_S0 1.8 V Active 1.8 V. Display controller, I2C buses, audio codec.

Common failure zones

Most likely failures first. Each entry gives a symptom and the immediate diagnostic action.

No charging via USB-C
CD3215 USB-C controller on affected port. Measure VBUS arrival. Check CC communication. Very common on A2681 after USB-C port stress.
No charging via MagSafe 3
MagSafe 3 port goes through separate path to T6002. Check MagSafe connector pins for corrosion. Measure PPBUS_G3H appearance with adapter only.
No power — dead after liquid
T6002 BMIC region is most vulnerable. Check PPBUS_G3H generation. Inspect under T6002 for corrosion. Clean thoroughly before measuring.
Power but no display
Display power rails (PPVDD_DISP, PP1V8_S0 to panel). Check display cable. Backlight controller area.
Intermittent power loss under load
PPBUS_G3H instability under M2 load. Check T6002 output capacitors. Measure ripple with oscilloscope under CPU stress.
